A Different Perspective on Law Enforcement Officials

On behalf of the entire CEN team, I would like to wish our readers a Happy Thanksgiving!! Thank you for reading our articles and supporting our mission of providing unbiased news to America.

This week's article is about a personal experience I recently had which changed my perspective on law enforcement officials. In recent years, large scandals have cast a shadow on our police officials. But after reading this article, I am hoping that some of those misconceptions will be cleared.

My mother signed up to be a part of the Citizens Police Academy, or CPA. CPA's primary goal is to educate and inform local citizens about the work that police officers do, and how to remain vigilant and identify misdemeanors or crimes while conducting your daily life. This program lasted for eight weeks, and my mother was taught about emergency services, the inner workings of the police department, how to react to real-life situations, self-defense training, forensic training, and most importantly, the idea of accessing the police in times of need. Eventually, graduation day came. My father and I went to our local fire station to congratulate the class. As we continued to interact with the men and women in blue, we realized that the things which normally go wrong during police encounters are accidents. When you get pulled over by a police car in the middle of the night, and you reach down to grab your phone or keys, the police officer thinks you have a hidden weapon which is going to be used on them. In an act of self-defense, the officer grabs his weapon, thinking that maybe the civilian has a weapon. What the media does not tell you is that in majority of the cases, the people that have been shot by police officers had a hidden weapon, and reached for it while the officer was standing there.

Police officers dedicate their whole lives protecting the citizens in their precinct. These brave men and women deserve nothing less than a long, respectful salute. The police officers are doing their duty. Now it is time to do ours, which is to be aware, vigilant, safe, and responsible citizens. One of the ways to do this is to join the CPA in the coming years. My mother loved it, and so will you. And I am not sugarcoating it. I am saying everything from my heart. Because the day we stop respecting police officers and preventing them from doing their duty, it will be a sad day for everyone in this country.
