Hurricane Michael: Deadly And Dangerous
Hurricane Michael recently smashed into the Florida Panhandle. Over 435,000 have lost access to power. 18 people have lost their lives because of this monstrosity. It is the most powerful hurricane to hit the US since 1992. Many people have resorted to looting and stealing. This is the result of little intervention from the government so far. It originated in the Caribbean Sea, and bounced off the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. It then clipped the southwestern tip of Cuba, then directly headed for the Florida Panhandle. The price to pay is well over 10 billion dollars, causing the region's businesses to struggle. The education aspect is also affected, with almost 26,000 students not being able to attend school. It could affect families where money is hard to come by, being that school is where their kids get healthy meals. The disheartening reality is Hurricane Michael has caused damage on an unprecedented scale, and we have to help them in their time of need. It will take weeks for the people of the region to recover, but they will. I hope they recover well and soon from this devastating event which took place this past week. Everyone needs to set aside their political differences, come together as humanity and address the burning issue of global warming. The clock is ticking....so it is NOW or NEVER!!
