The Brief: What you need to know about climate change

Climate change is the result of humans releasing harmful pollutants into the atmosphere. As a result, the ozone layer is being damaged, allowing more sunlight and harmful radiation than ever to penetrate the atmosphere. Polar ice caps are melting due to the warming climate on Earth, raising sea levels and endangering coastal cities across the globe. Warmer climates are causing bacteria and viruses to multiply faster and become deadlier. Diseases that were once minor and easily contained could mutate into superbugs and would spread faster. In the midst of all this, what can we do to counter this problem? Firstly, we need to create more electricity from renewable resources like water, wind and solar. Secondly, we need to do more recycling, and drastically reduce cutting of trees. This is probably the number one problem facing humanity, because it affects the whole globe and jeopardizes the future of the human race.
